Program Description Program Description: The Graduate Program in Pharmacy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Pharmacy and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Pharmacology. Areas of specialization with the Ph.D. in Pharmacy include Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Natural Products Chemistry and Toxicology, but the major research emphasis of the faculty can be categorized into specific areas that include: 1) Cancer Research; 2) Neuroscience; 3) Endocrinology; 4)Environmental and Chemical Toxicology; 5) Drug Discovery and Development; and 6) Drug Delivery. There is significant crossover in these areas of research and this has lead to significant interaction and collaboration among research faculty members with the Program, including participation in multiple investigatory grant applications and publications. This environment of cooperation and collaboration allows graduate students to freely interact with members of other laboratories to learn new techniques and operation of a wide variety of analytical equipment. In general, this cooperation and collaboration has created a pleasant and productive working environment.

The ULM Graduate Program in Pharmacy is a Doctoral Program and all students accepted for admission have applied for Ph.D. training. Students with a BS, BPharm., PharmD. or MS degree can apply for the Ph.D. program. There is no MS degree in the Graduate Program in Pharmacy at ULM.
