Program Description | The M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences is a 33 credit, two-year degree program designed to educate students in the scientific disciplines required for the discovery, development and evaluation of new drugs and other pharmaceutical products. The program is interdisciplinary, covering areas of pharmacology, physiology, pharmaceutics, toxicology and medicinal chemistry. Students complete a curriculum that includes 14 credits of required courses and 9 credits of elective courses (thesis track) or 19 credits of elective courses (non-thesis track). Thesis track students work with a faculty research mentor to develop and complete a thesis project that represents original research. Faculty research interests include drug discovery and development; molecular modeling; chemical synthesis; studies of drug mechanisms and pharmacological actions; pharmacokinetic analysis; and cytochrome P450 polymorphisms. This path is ideal for those interested in working as research scientists in industry or pursuing PhD or MD degrees. Non-thesis track students complete a capstone writing project enabling them to explore, in-depth, a topic of their choice related to the pharmaceutical sciences. Internship opportunities are available at Regeneron for students who are US citizens or have a Green card. Regeneron accepts students for paid internships for the spring semester of the second year of the program. |
